Antenna length?

Am delighted with the BCT 8 unit.For best reception does it matter how much I
extend the fac supplied antenna? Full length better than 8" to 12"?
At this point,Not listening to 806/956 range.

Depends on what you want or what you are having trouble getting.
460Mhz=6"
155Mhz=18"
These are typical mid points in the public safety range, so they should work for the general UHF/VHF bands. Pick one of these will have some diminished reception on the other, but not enough to worry about it.

What captclint said is correct, and an external (roof mount) will improve reception dramaticaly if you're able. If you still have problems, give some thought to an FM filter to block the 98-108Mhz range, or maybe even a notch filter for the band you're interested in.
