Details my friend!

How high?
What's going on it?
Free standing, on the roof, bolted to the house?

THat helps.

Well, to hold a 14 element 2m beam, it will have to be fairly sturdy.

DUnno what you've looked at already, but try these:

Rohn telescoping mast: http://kollmanradio.com/index.php?cPath=259

Crank up: http://www.hamradio.com/web/newcat/hrocat10.pdf

All depends upon your budget I guess. Not a whole lot out there these days.

Another option is to home brew one.

I have a couple telescoping Radio Shack masts (no longer sold).

The easiest way would be 30 ft of tower I suppose (easy to get at least).

Hope that helps a little.

You could try the local plumbing supply house. They sell rigid pipe in 22 foot lengths.
I would ask for 1 1/4 or 1 1/2 schedule 40 or 80. The sections come with threads
on each end and a coupling. Make sure you get the steel galvanized type.

This pipe is heavy and has some sort of greasy film on it so take a pair of gloves
when handling it. If you made some sort of base for the ground and a couple of house
brackets, this would put you 40 feet plus up in the air. If your going to use a rotor,
don't forget to put that on. Just hinge it at the base and tie a rope to it at a height
you can untie from the roof. Then pull it up, bolt it down and your done. Not a
job for just one person.

THat jogs my memory. I did that for a while when I first started. It is possible to walk up a 22 ft piece of pipe. It gets heavy, but if you're young, it's doable. Another setup I had was 20 feet of small TV tower (a freebie) with standard TV masting run up the middle that I could extend up above the top of the tower. I had the tower guyed with heavy rope and topped off with a 3 el 20 meter beam. Worked quite well and I could put the whole thing up single handed. Just a temporary solution, but it got the job done. Sort of 'Field Day' style hamming. There are many ways to get that beam up there if you think outside the box.

antenna pole

ok here is my cheap antenna pole , i was able to get about a dozen poles from a chain link fence it is the top rail that fence is wire tied to, each end is tapered so one slides on to the other , i bolted my antenna with u-bolts and fed the coax down through the center of pipe to keep it out of the wind i then drove a stake into the ground and sat the pipe over this to secure the bottom then i fastened the upper portion to the soffit and eves with metal u- clamps that are used for electrical conduit , this has with stood some very strong wind storms as there is very little wind drag

Hey Capthook,
The antennas on the tilt over is a DPD production VHF Log at the very top which is great!. Then I mounted the Wilson 800mhz beam for a couple of 800mhz systems underneath the DPD.
Off to the side is a Diamond D130J Discone. All antennas connected to various splitters/amps to 7 scanners.
Take care
Ron
