If you are having trouble legally obtaining software please state so. We do not want any hurt feelings when your vague post is mistaken for a free request. It is YOUR responsibility to properly word your request.

To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

I have a Yaesu FT-8800 which I mounted in my 2006 Nissa Maxima. I mounted the antenna with a trunk lip mount on the trunk deck lid. I have a Diamond SG7500NMO antenna on the mount. With that antenna I am having high SWR and it doesnt send of receive real well. I have a Diamond NR72BNMO which is much shorter that I put on the mount sometimes which works reasonably well. I can receive and get out with that one. I cant recall the SWR I get on that antenna. Now I dont believe that the trunk deck lid is metallic, magnets wont stick to it. So my question is would the fact that the trunk deck lid isnt metallic be causing the problem with the SG7500 because of lack of ground plane or what ever else?

Trunk lip mount antenna problem...

Sounds as if your antenna has no ground at the antenna's feedpoint. Try running a couple of pieces of wire from the spot where the lip mount attaches to the non-ferrous trunk lid and connect them inside somewhere under the back window where there is a good ground, like the metal body structure. That should cure the problem.

Would I connect the wires under the base of the trunk lip mount in between the mount and the trunk deck lid or where the antenna connects to the center of the top of the mount where the antenna screws on?

I thought about the right angle brackets as the quarter panel is metalic. But the spot that it would have to be is right next to the hinge and i dont think i'd be able to get the bracket screwed in.

Not sure if I'm understanding what you are asking. Using the angle bracket excludes the use of the trunk lip mount. You would need a seperate NMO base/coax harness (or one with it included such as MaxRad's TGBWP series) to use with the angle bracket and not use the trunk lip mount at all.

Forgive me for not knowing the layout of your quarter panel where it meets the trunk lid, but is the place you are referring to the only location you can screw in an angle bracket?

It might be as simple as sanding a little paint off the bottom of the trunk lid where the screws from the mount contact the trunk lid.
