I know this has been asked a million times but I cant find the answer I need so here goes hope the experts can point me in the right direction.I have a uniden 396 with a Sky Band Base Antenna installed in the attic (I live in a apartment so outside is out) I have 25 feet of LMR400 connected to both and it works great.Heres the problem I have 1 system NJSP troop C to the south of me thats not always coming in (when I take my 396 out and up the street it picks it up with just the rubber duckie)If i add a Laird Y8066 Yagi Base Antenna and point it south towards the system am i going to lose the systems north east and west i pick up also using the Jim DIP2002-AB Diplexer from scanner master will that take away from the sky band on the other bands.I am up for any advice and moving not one yet upgrading antennas is no problem I have about 5' head room to play with I monitor vhf uhf and 800mhz if it helps monitor Middlesex County from edison NJ.

Thank you in advance

Antenna Attic

Without doing a 're engineering' project, you might consider getting a 'splitter' (inverse) and get two (2) seperate antenns that feed into the one (1) scanner. Use at least a 1/2 wave lenght seperation if possible between the two antenna's in the attic (or whereever) and experiment also with the 'polarity' (H or V) with one anntena only......ensure you are-not near any man-man power or noise generating gear in the attic (power lines, security systems, wireless, etc...fans...etc...)...

The State Police might be 'over shooting' or you might be getting a side or back lobe that cancells out the signal or something to that nature...

Give it a few tries with different spacing / polarity....might help...
