Absolutely true. There's a lot of UHF/UHF-T in my area, so I mostly listen to that. The state police are on 800 and there are a couple of large MotoTrbo networks on 900 as well.

I was going to test it out in the Austin, TX area last year, but left it on my desk instead. Doh!

Yeah its weakest link is the 7-8 hundred MHz but it is still better on 7-8 hundred MHz than supplied POS antenna LOL.

I’m fairly certain the Remtronix antenna others have referred to here will be the go-to antenna going forward. It will become the standard, not too long which means it’s a more easily managed antenna when you are out-and-about. I put one with the BNC connector on my 325P2 and use it on my SDS100 also (with a SMA to BNC adapter). It gives overall good results on VHF High/UHF/700-800MHz for my needs.

I'm here a lot
Remtronix for 700-900 MHz, or swap out to the unused stock antenna from my BCD 536HP if I need to increase or decrease a length for monitoring.

That should have read “for”, not fit. But just go to Scanner Master and open up their menu>antennas>portable antennas and look for the Rem 842B. That’s the one with the BNC connector. (They make the same antenna with an SMA connector but if you are using it with the 325P2 you want the BNC version.)

Glad to hear you like the antenna I recommended, it's a big one, if you were able to mount it on a door handle So the antenna is above the body of the car next to the window that should work pretty good for you.

How far can these antennas reach for reception per say?
No way to pin that down, depends on the radio, what kind of system or frequency you're listening to and power and antenna that is being used to transmit. The only thing that you're sure of is that this will work better than the stock antenna, there are so many factors and it's very positional.

The antennas supplied with the radio (stock antenna) are designed to work using the following reasoning… it’s generally assumed the scanner will be used to receive signals specific to the area, meaning local FD’s, PD’s, etc., and the antenna supplied shouldn’t be expected to perform over that expectation. If it does, you are ahead of the game. If it doesn’t, there are aftermarket antennas out there that give better results… some are mono band antennas, some multi-band, specific to your personal needs. The aftermarket multi-band rubber duck antennas are longer but they do a better job. You can even improve over these antennas also by using a mobile gain antenna or even better, an outside antenna that’s mounted outside on your house. As for how much improvement you will see with this Remtronix, remember all things are not equal. What works for you may not work for someone else. Terrain, frequency, and other factors all enter into how well reception is. I’ve got a friend who lives closer to an agency but can’t hear them as clear as I do… he lives in a hollow and I live on a hill. He doesn’t have line of sight with the transmitting antenna but I do.
