Depends upon what you are monitoring… the signal strength of the systems can be a factor. For example, I use a similar one but everything I monitor is strong (on VHF, UHF and 700MHz). Generally speaking if the stock antenna isn’t doing it for you on any band that you monitor then no, don’t get it. It certainly won’t improve VHF & UHF. It may play better on a BCD436HP if you are having sumulcast issues but you have to experiment. This type of antenna is what I consider a specialty antenna, to be used when there’s an event you’d like to monitor and everything is on the 700-800MHz band.

N1CHU answered the question. Also depends how far you are from the sites and if any of the vhf frequencies are listenable. If so this antenna is probably not good.
