Wasn't the P-25 system supposed to replace the legacy systems?

At least if they would have put in a vhf p25 they could of have put a analog ch. in their radio. Do they still love the Great Bill Hunter

Bill Hunter had no input into the radio system, much to his chagrin.

UHF was chosen because there were no clear VHF Channels. If you have listened to a scanner attached to an external antenna I'm sure you have heard traffic not generated by Cumberland County on the frequencies used by the Sheriff's Dept, Fire Dept and Rescue Squad. If we can hear those users here in our county the can also hear us there in their county. It is one thing to share frequencies with a neighbor 90 miles away when you both only talk a few times a day, it is a completely different thing when one of those neighbors starts transmitting a digital control channel 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year on one of those frequencies.
