Does anyone have a suggestion for an antenna that covers 150 thru 800 MHZ? I live in St. Louis City and have a PRO-164. The RS antenna works fine for the trunking 800 in the city, but no luck picking up County frequencies. Thanks

Regarding an antenna for your 396 to receive St Louis County the stock antenna should be working OK. But if you reception is marginal you may need to install a rooftop antenna, but I seriously doubt that. . However a discone mounted on your roof wiil do the trick. Stay away from any products that RS offers.
My experience tells me that. They are good for adapters and wire thing, but they are overpriced. Let me know what you decide on and I'll direct you to companies that have the same products for far less. Dave N.

Thanks DX, but since the PRO-164 is a handheld scanner, I don't think the roof antenna would be the answer. The Super Scan Duck or the Diamond SRH77CA have been suggested. Are you familiar with these and what is your opinion. Thanks

i'm not familiar with either antenna. i'm sure they are good antennas/ i had reception issues so i had a diamond discone mounted to aid in my reception. like to receive stations say 40-50 mile out of st louis, mo.
