I've got a couple of questions about antennas and radios.

1.) I have a Uniden BCD996XT scanner. What is a good antenna for it? I'm looking for the antenna that would mount to the tie-down holes on the side of the bed of a truck.

2.) I'm looking at getting a CB Radio. What would a good antenna be for the Cobra 75 WX ST? I want to mount it the same way (tie down holes.)

More specifics are needed to know what freq ranges you are interested in hearing. Any specific users might also help narrow the recommendations...Mike

For the scanner, I believe everything in Memphis is in the 800mhz range. The CB will be used occasionally on road trips and emergencies. What other specifics do you need?

Undoubtedly there's lots in the Memphis area that isn't on 800- but if that's all you want to hear, a cell phone antenna is plenty broad banded enough that it will cover the public safety portion of the band without issue.

A lot of folks use the Larsen 150-400-800 Mhz antenna - as the name implies, it covers the 3 basic public safety bands. It's quite small, and you have to supply your own mount. But it's inexpensive and performs well for most folks...Mike
