• Effective immediately we will be deleting, without notice, any negative threads or posts that deal with the use of encryption and streaming of scanner audio.

We've noticed a huge increase in rants and negative posts that revolve around agencies going to encryption due to the broadcasting of scanner audio on the internet. It's now worn out and continues to be the same recycled rants. These rants hijack the threads and derail the conversation. They no longer have a place anywhere on this forum other than in the designated threads in the Rants forum in the Tavern.

I have a rat shack discone up on the roof that does a decent job. Have a wide 25-1300mhz roof mount on the truck.

I second yaesumofo's suggestion if you don't mind using the BNC-SMA adapter.

I wanted to avoid the need for the adapter, so I went with the Centurion EXE-806-SM. It's an 806-870MHz half wave dipole 2.5dB gain antenna that is 8.5" length. I got mine from Waltel for $27 before they closed.

In my area, the performance of the RS and the Centurion are pretty much even.
