I know its an old post but I see no repsonse. channel 1 is 469.8125 and channel 2 is 465.8125. Rumor has it that they are going to a trunked system for the 2010 season so these channels probably wont do you any good now.

Who's going to a trunked system? The fairground ops or the speedway ops?

I believe that they are using an existing system. If so how do you get the Frequincies / talk group ID's if they are not posted anywhere?

The system may already be posted in the database. But, talkgroups may be unknown at this time. Best way to find out what system them are using is use close call feature available on some scanners or a frequecny counter.

You can take the antenna off of your scanner too. It will pick up signals just a few yards away from your location.

A 50 ohm CB PL-259 connector dummy load screws right on to most of the B+C adapters, that are normally used for connecting an outdoor antenna...

Well, for that to work, you need to know what freq they are on to start.

Im new to this stuff but a person from the track (who probably knows less than I do about this stuff) told me that If you have a scanner and find the frequency, the next time they transmit it will be on a totaly different channel. She also mentioned somethingabout repeaters. So Im guessing it might be A trunked system based off mt diablo from the Radio guys, or Chrystal communications, something of that sort. So when I get the frequency useing close call on my bc246t, I can identify who owns it. But how do you get the talk group ID or DEC number?

Well first, find out what frequencies they are using with close call. Then find out what system they are on by cross referencing the frequencies with known LTR systems in the DB

then program that system in your scanner and search for talkgroups. The config on your scanner will most likely be decimal format.

Also based on what you said and what the person at the track told you..., it sounds like it would be a trunked or LTR system.

So my BC246T will search for talk groups within a frequency? Perfect! Ill have to read up on it and figure that setting out!

Thanks for the help!

Not exactly, talkgroups and frequencies are two different things.

Talkgroups are like frequencies within a trunked system.

Frequencies are conventional.

If you program your 246 with the LTR/Trunked system the speedway might be on...you can "search" within that system for active "talkgroups" which may be related to the speedway.

LTR/Trunked systems have many users so "talkgroups" you may monitor may not be the speedway, but other users who pay to use the system.
