Any Chatter on NJ Union County Jail Escapess?...

Has anyone heard any chatter with regard to Federal transmissions, now that FBI, USMS is involved in the manhunt for these two career criminal/gang member scum that escaped from Union County NJ Jail ?...

If so, please PM me with freeks, as mine have been dormant, (at least when I was monitoring "known" Federal channels here in North NJ)

You never will, IMO... as they are almost entirely now closed-except for rare instances.

This is a great "test case" to see how OPEN (CLOSED?) system is currently, here in NY/NJ area.

Out here in Warren County, I can't pick up any of the Fed Comm's from the NYC area, but I monitor NJ-DOC all the time and I haven't heard a thing. I thought they would have been all over this one.

You would think something would be heard...

Makes you wonder where the state of this hobby ( Public Safety monitoring aspect of ) is going... I have expensive equipment and it's been virtually silent, with regard to this incident at least....

( I am in Union County 07036, BTW w/ a 40' dipole)

Perhaps (BIG PERHAPS!) a licensing system to weed out the folks the P.S. folks don't want listening, (similiar to gun ownership checks).

The state of NJ would LOVE the fees it could generate! There are very few cases of people sitting home (or in cars !) using scanners to break laws.
But again;
This is a different topic, I don't like this, but the way this hobby is going...?...Could be added to scanners sold even?....Just thinkin' aloud...

I'm curious as to exactly what kind of "chatter" you were thinking you might hear in relation to this event. There really isn't much radio traffic to pass if one is sitting outside a location waiting and watching in case one of these POS shows up. If intel on a possible hideout location is gathered and a warrant is executed on said location, any (if there is) radio traffic would likley be on low power simplex channels. I'm wondering what you were expecting to hear.

Anything-been very, very quiet.

I know, what ya mean about "Simplex / Lo-Po systems-but still (and there are security measures too!) the news media coverage has been non-existent-and the channels that SHOULD be active- (I am less than 5 miles from UCJ- and ten miles from U.C. police Hdqtrs., and 7 miles from Gateway federal building in Newark- are conspicously quiet-

No task forces heard-nothing! just wondering if anything has been heard; perhaps the channnels I DL'd from RR are wrong?...Or the Public Safety people use totally encrypted systems on big cases here?....
