Any experiences bringing a scanner on MSC departing from Portugal?

I got a good deal on a 13 day transatlantic cruise from Portugal to Miami on MSC.
I'd like to bring the scanner to explore the frequencies used on the cruise but I've not cruised MSC before nor been to Portugal.
I did not see it on the prohibited list. MSC Prohibited items in luggage list
It is unclear to me if allowed in Portual. Spain seems to allow it. RR Wiki
Anyone know or find anything to the contrary?

As has been discussed in many prior threads, YMMV, for what Dock-side and ship security may allow or not allow, even reviewing on-line Prohibited documents from the cruiselines

I'll say it over and over again....leave your scanner at home and enjoy your vacation. Eat, drink, dance, socialize, enjoy the daily activities. Its almost like a kid with their phones....

Thanks. As I've said before I enjoy listening to the marine airwaves. It's especially cool when there is a coast guard emergency medical extraction happening.
No need to repeat yourself on my threads. I am just looking for local information and experiences.

I have found that things become a little easier if you take your marine operator‘s certificate of competence with you. As a hobbyist you’ll likely have problems.

Can you point me to a thread where someone had their scanner taken and not returned?

Years ago I took a 2 meter handheld with me on a cruise to talk to others in my family while in US ports.
Security check before boarding saw it. That guy didn't know what it was, only that it was a "walkie talkie".
They took the radio, but returned it to me later in the evening after it was checked over by (probably) the radio officer.

I've never heard of anyone that had a radio taken and NOT returned.

I'd disagree. Nothing cool about that, but hey, whatever floats your boat.

there is a new member here from Spain , whom posted about cruise ships and trains to me that says that scanners are not a problem in his country
I cant speak to Potugal as i have not been , Personally I would bring because if you go ashore you can leave scanner on board, this is what I have done more than once. Yes you can hear all kinds of cool but expect that anything from land you here is likely another language.

I am sure you have a different perspective as police and firemen might. Sorry you disagree.
There is a reason why so many of us enjoy listening to the airwaves when something dramatic happens. Listening to dead air, is, well, boring. And I would hardly think it is not a one off to like to listen to all sorts of things that happen in life that we can listen to even though we are not part of the "in" crowd actually dealing with the issue first hand.
