Any ideas for a mobile antenna

I have a hustler mag mount mobile scanner antenn and it seems not to do as good as my 8ooMHZ radio shack antenna. I was wondering if anyone had any ideas on a good mag mount antenna to bring those signals in better without distortion.Thanks again..

For just 800 MHz? A Motorola 800 MHz antenna. (the same one they use on the commercial radios). Keep the feedline as short as possible, as loss on 800 MHz for RG-58 is high. If possible, use low loss cable for the mount (also available from Motorola). Permanent mount will work the best, but a mag mount will still work OK.

The best bang for the buck 800Mhz mobile antenna is the 3dB open coil "cell phone" style antenna. You can check them out by clicking here. I also have mag mounts with your choice of connector here.

If you want a wider band scanner antenna, then I would suggest an Antenex scanner antenna. They cover VHF/UHF/800, but I also have good luck with them on lowband as well.

I just got the Antenex ABSCANC 150/450/800 antenna with mag mount GB8 and it does an awesome job! It shipped for $46 from radiooutfitter.com - by far the best mobile scanner ant ive ever bought!

I use the Larsen 150/450/800. By far the best all band mobile I have used. Supperior in VHF, awsome in 800.
