I don't know, just responded to the message. It used to be used by district tact teams for simplex car-to-car, but now they have encrypted talkgroups on the 800 system...or so I heard😁
I just checked earlier today and citywide 8 wasn't there, so i was wondering

Has not been a cw8 channel since before 2021 if there was one. There are some being called in the 80 range but are encrypted trunking from what I've heard.

Citywide 8 used to be simplex on 460.525. It made for great listening but, being a short-range portable to portable only channel, you had to be nearby to listen in.

When driving thru the city it was fun to hear all the chatter on it.

There are Several 12.5mhz. channels marked for "Future Use" Maybe it's one of those ? My list Stops at CW7.
Many of those frequencies were submitted and posted a long time ago prior to the UHF-T mandate was issued that has since been rescinded. The "citywide 8" isn't programmed in the APX radios, and each district has an encrypted talk group on the city's 800 system for car-to-car purpose. One radio is set to the zone, the other is set to the specific talk group channel. So, in a nutshell, it's no longer there for us to listen and all those "future use" licensed frequencies could be removed if someone desired to do so and clean it up a bit and avoid confusion.

460.5250 is still used by that City of Chicago civilian search and rescue organization. I hear them on it during the Air and water show while working the crowd looking for lost kids every year.

I never heard of this organization, but it's no longer used by CPD as car-to-car so it's been removed.

Could this Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) be the group you're referring to? If so, do you recall which mode they were using on 460.525? Analog (PL/DPL)? Digital (mode, NAC, etc)? Any other freqs used by them? Thanks!

They were using the old CPD tone in analog mode. Gotta look in my radio. I've heard them there for years even before the new system.
