Hey everyone! I Just found you guys & I have been reading & reading & reading.. and giving up. lol.

I am in Bryan County, GA.. (Pembroke/Ellabell area to be more exact)

So. My question is this..

I have a Uniden Bearcat 760 XLT Scanner that we just set back up in our house (Had it there before we moved so nothing has been updated yet.. )

My issue is trying to find the frequencies around here.

I have found 4 so far...

158.85000 (sheriff)
156.12000 (Fire/Ems N)
154.25000 (fire/Ems S)
156.24000 (emergency Management ??)

I am sure I wont get all of these.. I have 3 fire stations right near us (Like one right across the street basically) So I would like to at least get theirs...

Also, down in FL I was able to get the Bus scanners.. Which I would LOVE to have since I will have all 3 of my kids on the bus system this next year... It was nice to hear if something was wrong with your kids bus kwim?

So anyone know of any other #s?

I would be interested in hearing:

Fire, Police, Train (if we are close enough. not too sure if we are.. we have a hand held scanner so if you happen to know the train Freq please feel free to point me in that direction too so I can update my handheld) Bus, school, ... any others?

TYIA!! I think I answered all the questions lol.

Seems there is not much posted for your area. You may have better luck asking on the GA forum. I'll ask to have this moved there.

wittymoma,

You may receive better answers in the Georgia forum. Would you like us to move your thread there?

Here is your county , you will need a Digital trunking scanner to cover Bryan county public safety http://www.radioreference.com/forums/newreply.php?do=newreply&noquote=1&p=1084447&

When I click on that it brings me up to starting a new thread...

Not to sound dumb (okay well I WILL sound dumb) But what is a Digital Trunking Scanner? I am not sure what mine is... lol.

This is what I Have... Uniden Bearcat BC 760 XLT 800 Mhz Scanner

I am GUESSING it is not trunked (even though I have NO CLUE what that means LOL) I guess I really need to read up on this stuff.. I Just want to LISTEN not become a pro kwim LOL.

Ty for your help!!

First, lets get the link fixed.
Bryan Co. is here:
Bryan County, Georgia (GA) Scanner Frequencies and Radio Frequency Reference

The digital system does not look like it is working yet so your conventional analog scanner (which the 760 is) will probably continue to work until the county gets the new system working. Folks in the GA fourm will have more info on that. Here is the new digital system link:
Scanner Frequencies: Bryan County Public Safety Trunking System, Pembroke, Georgia

Now for some help on those terms. Trunking is the ability to use a set of frequencies for many more channels than the set of frequencies. Say 100 channels on 5 frequencies. Read the trunking basics article in the RR Wiki for a better explanation of how that works. This will not make you an expert, but will give you the ability to understand what is going on in the present day of spectrum usage. When folks here talk about digital trunking, they are most often referring to APCO P25 signaling, which requires the use of a digital decoder in the scanner. That technology does not come cheap, as you will see if you start looking up prices for the digital scanners.
