any knowledgeable airband people?

I came across this freq., 128.875 recently. Does anyone know what this is, or what this freq. would be allocated to? It's moderately active, and sounds like pilot to pilot, air to air, rather than to a tower.

Do you live near an airport? It could be a UNICOM frequency ...

Surf out AirNav's website for airports that are close (within 30 miles or so) to you and see if you get a match.

128.875 is in a range used for company operations (128.825-132.0 and 136.5-136.975). Based on your location and a little poking around in the FCC database, I believe the frequency you are hearing is used by a New York area helicopter service. The frequency is licensed for base stations at the Manhattan Wall Street Heliport (KZI5) and the heliport at 30th Street and 12th Street on the Hudson (WCX2).

okay, that makes sense, although I don't really hear anything more than pilots talking about misc things, not even to do with flying, often. I know they all use 123.05, for helicopter and lower altitude traffic also, at least for the 30th st heliport. Thanks for the info.

ohhhh yaaaa. For some reason I thought that it started at 129 ...

But this highlights a flaw in the AirNav website .. (memo to myself) ARINC frequency info is automatically included.
