Mohave County is a great place in which to reside. With outside antennas there is a lot to monitor on the airwaves. I can easily hear a lot of radio activity from the Bullhead area and locations to the South from my home in Kingman. Some radio traffic from the Eastern part of San Bernardino County, Southern Nevada, and Southwest Utah can also be monitored. I have been in the hobby for a great many years in multiple states, starting with a tunable multi-band radio back in 1969, advancing to a crystal scanner in 1972, and my first programmable scanner in 1976.
It's a great hobby.

I don't count as a Mohave County resident listener except when I'm passing through about 1-3 times per year when traveling from the eastern Sierra Nevada of California down to CA Hwy 58 to I-40, then down U.S. 93 into the Phoenix area to visit family. We stay in Kingman for a night on the trip down. On the way back we drive to Barstow to stay overnight. This to break up the long drive and make the second day so much easier than driving the whole thing in one day.

I always listen to the NPS, BLM (all 3 states), ADOT and DPS along the highways. My first wife grew up in Kingman and I visited Kingman from 1972 to 1986 when she left my life. One of my ex brother in laws was injured in the 1972 railroad tank explosion. He was knocked to the pavement as he crossed Andy Devine to escape from the business he worked at. The bulk of the heat passed over him so his burns were not as bad as they could have been. My 1st wife's family all lived there and lost friends that were on the volunteer fire department.

During my 2nd wife's and I stay in Kingman we listen to the S.O. and P.D., the railroad and get on local ham repeaters for the hey of it. There are a couple of linked ham networks with repeaters up on Mt. Hayden (Hualapai's) so we can talk on those to people all over California. We've found just the right place to stay, where to eat and where the gas is the consistently cheapest in town. Sometime this fall we will be passing through again, something we've not done for nearly 2 years, cause, well you know. If the pandemic is still active in Arizona by then we will have to cancel once more. Plans for XMAS are still up in the air, not sure if we will travel then or not.

I already have AWINS programmed into my 325P2 and will also be using the PSR-600 mounted in our "out of town" vehicle for all the rest. I will be updating the programs in each to get ready for the drive. We will also look at how many more miles of U.S. 93 have been 4 laned. The progress has seemed slow given our 1-3 trips over it each year. There have been a lot of changes in 23 months!
