any new freq

hi i live in the northern neck area of va and i have a pro 99 from raio shack i can pick up maryland stations but i want to hear more action in my state i would like to hear richmond but i dont have a digital scanner any other freq with police and fire &rescue would be helpful

Everyone (including me) is going to tell you that you have to buy a digital unit in order to monitor the type of activity that you are looking for. Even the smaller jurisdictions are moving to these systems. Since digital units have been available for a while now, you may want to look on EBay for a used unit. Otherwise, new units cost between $500 and $600. Although this is a lot of money for a radio, I think enjoyment you receive is worth it. So do something nice for yourself.
