There is a good possibility that Unication will be releasing solid non-beta firmware (v.1.4) that will allow easier listening on trundled radio systems. Unication also has some two-way products sold outside of the us that will work very similar to a scanner. Search for the Unication Asia website to see products. But I believe the G series firmware is much closer. For anyone who is not very familiar with Unication, their G5 series pager runs circles around everyone else. Rock solid.

That would be pretty great if Unication started making scanners!

I'm beta testing their firmware, and it (and the PPS) need some major changes before they will be suitable for general scanning. The hardware is solid, but the software/firmware was only designed to monitor a single system, and it really shows.

Single systems was their original intent, wasn't it? I would think they would have to start from the ground up.

Quite clearly yes. And it's an excellent tool for that. The software and firmware just need a lot of redesign work to be useful for general scanning.
