You would need a copy of the original receipt, where it was purchased from a dealer or retailer, showing date of purchase within the last year.

The receipt, where purchased from eBay, or an individual, would not meet the requirements to show that the unit is still within the one year from date of sale warranty.

If whistler would fix 2 things with the TRX-2 it would be a winner.

1. Fix the squelch problem in analog mode.
2. Add I/Q demodulation for simulcast systems.

That's all it needs! It has the best remote head design of any scanner so it's easy to install in almost any car. Fix those two items and the TRX-2 would be flying off the resellers shelves!

Come on Whistler, make it happen!

Not a bash. I don't even think they have the talent to "make it happen". I think since there's very little money to be made in scanner;s, they are happy with the status que. If they had the talent, why didn't the Whistler,Uniden simulcast crusher ever come to fruiton ? So,they temporarily delayed a few sds sale's,until people saw nothing new coming from them.

I think It may be appropriate to note that I have nothing against Whistler. I used and enjoyed several of the GRE branded scanner's.

I think they have basically given up on the scanner market.
I suspect that they'll ride the current models until sales dwindle to the point they are no longer profitable, then give it up. Their try, several years ago, to develop a 'simulcast friendly' model ended without fanfare nor a commitment that they'd try again, or via a different path. While they have good technical design people, they are focused on radar detectors & a few other products, not scanners.

I have to agree with hiegtx. I have had many brands of scanners starting with a Realistic Pro 4. Many of the brands have long ago disappeared and I also have tried models from the the 3 main Japanese companies that make ham radios. The development costs and the threat of more encrypted systems has put a damper on the monitoring hobby, and the recent component shortage was another red flag. There is a rumored new radio from Uniden, but nothing but a picture and lots of guesses to what it will be.

It's more than a rumor, two new Uniden scanners were officially announced a couple days back here on another thread.

Missed the details such as they are/were. Details still cloudy, and price???? Delivery date? I've been in radio hobbies since 1960's and seen unexpected problems. Portable Heathkit TV had good reception (B&W), good audio, but picture rolled after it warmed up. Heath sent me parts more than once and then had me take it to their tech center but finally just gave up trying.

At least I learned to be a more patient.

No trunking on any mode, and no P25?

Who does Unidon't think they are, Icom??
We don't want to get too deep on discussing Uniden models here, since this is the Whistler forum. But the new scanners from Uniden are more focused on ham, aviation, marine, NASCAR, and rail. They will also work for simpler public safety systems. There are discussions on other threads about the new models.

With the big "E" running rampant through the country, concentrating on other communications areas might not be a bad move (for Whistler or Uniden). Whatever the advances that they make in public safety communications, it won't matter if we can't receive it.
