There was a rumor going around some time ago that one or several counties in the metro Atlanta area were either planning on or installing upgrades to switch to digital comms. Does anybody have any concrete information? What county? time line?
Thanks.

Rumor is that Cobb County is supposed to go digital. MARTA is currently using a mixed mode, some digital and some analog.
I think the big hangup on it is, $$$ millions.

I heard that "many" agencies are considering digital when they have to reband. Since Nexhell is footing the bill for rebanding we may see some big counties upgrade. I'm not sure exactly what Nexhell has to pay for, but I imagine these counties will have to pay the difference if they want digital. My parents live in DeKalb and I know there is little chance of them going digital. They are still trying to get a true type II analogue system installed.

Cobb County is "scheduled" to switch before the end of the year (they even purchased all the digital equipment before the SPLOST was voted on), but of all the officers I've seen, they are still carrying the MTS2000's with them. MARTA and Dobbins ARB (partial) are on digital (MARTA 800 and DARB on 400). I can't wait for Cobb to switch over so I can receive them in my basement office as their newest tower is about 1 mile (as the crow flies) from my house!

Hall county is planning a upgrade, have heard conflicting reports it will be 800 mhz and last I heard was going to be a Moto ASTRO Digital system, but if money gets to be a issue they just might go Moto type 2 analog, anyone else have info on this?
