Dave AKA The Tripzter;

I've enjoyed your posts & I'm learning alot by reading them. Is the download you posted for Delaware still current?

Hello,

It is still current. I did not include some of the conventional frequencies used by the Fireboard for each County. You can add stuff, delete stuff, etc. The file is great for those who are just passing thru the First State. :)

Hello,

Hopefully you have the right cable. In Win96 on the top of the screen should be a Scanner Option. Click on it and a dropdown menu should appear. Click Load to Scanner. It should take less than 30 seconds. Make sure you load the right file. Each file will have a tab at the top.

Dave;

I did that, now where does it go (sorry I'm BRAND new to this)? For instance, I'm currently listening to stuff in the V folder 5 (I think) that came loaded with the scanner with V5 being Delaware. When I downloaded your file, I couldn't find it.

By the way, when I dowloaded the file, the scanner says "wrong model" or something like that??

Hello,

The file must be unzipped before Win96 will open it. To find the file, click File, select Open, and the DE file should be in the folder. What cable do you have? If you have the lastest version of Win96, there should be no problem openning files made with previous versions. Wrong Model is a new one to me. :?

Yes, file is unzipped & shows up fine in the Win 96 software. The cable came from Radio Shack & is the one that goes with the scanner.

Assuming it downloads to the scanner correctly, how do you then access it?

As for my scanner showing "wrong model", can you direct me to a site that might help me with Win 96?

Hello,

When you upload the file to the radio, it overwrites what was previously in the radio. It reboots then scans. When you turn off the radio, then turn on the radio, what does the welcome screen say? You can email Don Starr at www.starrsoft.com with any questions.

You're being very patient with me. Thank you very much.

It does not have your welcome screen, still the one I previously had which means the download didn't work I guess. I'll write him to see what he suggests.

Is there a way to download your file without erasing all that was there before?

Hello,

When you download the file to the 96, it only overwrites what is in working memory and not the V-Folders. What is the catalog # of the cable you have? It should be 20-289 and not 20-048.

It is the 289 cable. I've tried again & get the same message on my scanner "wrong model".

Well after much work with the software, I WAS able to get everything going correctly. I loaded your file & it works great!!
Now for the next question; how do you load this file into a V folder?

I'm in Wilmington by the way.

Hello,

You can save the file to the scratch pad of the PRO 96. Here are the instructions:

*Press PGM, then FUNC, then PGM
*V-Scanner will apppear on top of screen.
*Press 1-SAVE. Then press . (Decimal).
*Press ENTER 2 times.

The Unit will save the working memory to the scratch pad. Follow the screen prompts to exit V-Scanner Mode. You can aslo download the V-Scanner Files from the Unit once you save the files on the PRO 96 using Win96.

Thank you!! Now if I wanted to move that say to V1 can that be done? Or another question, using say V2, I wanted to modify it for Boston, MA via Win 96 can that be done & then download it to the scanner without impacting the other folders?

Hello,

Yes. You can move the folders around anyway you want via WIN96. WIN96 gives you the option of modifying V-Folders. You can upload 1 V-Folder or any number of V-Folders. You can make a new file, save it, then load it to any folder you want. And you can save unmodified folders as well. Click on the V-Scanner Option and follow the options from the drop-down menu.
