TRX-1: Any postal code scanning option in the works for Canadians?

The whole database is there already, why no postal code entry (like the zip code for USA).
Unidens have this option but not the whistlers.

Lets hope it can be added in the future

I suspect that would be a patent issue. Uniden patented the location based scanning, so Whistler would have to either get a license from Uniden, or devise a different method to get to that point. You can do a library import based on zip code, but it's not an active method that could be used while scanning. From what I've seen noted in a previous thread (quite some time back), Whistler's 'zip code' is based on the county the zip code is in, not on the physical location that Uniden uses.

Remember that, apparently, Whistler, via the GRE IP they purchased, has a patent on the alert LED remaining active while a given talkgroup or channel is being received, whereas on the Uniden scanners, it's only active for a set number of seconds, regardless of how long the transmission continues.
