HI, I'm wondering if anyone has used an Icom R-3 at a nascar race and what they were able to pick up?
Though I'm sure the faint signals from in-car cameras might be difficult to hold all the way around the track, It might be pretty neat anyway. plus there are lots of fixed cameras around the track that might give a good view to the person in the stands.
I'm pretty darn interested in the capabiliees of this scanner and would love some feedback.
thnks,
Bill

You might look a little strange, but you could build a cantenna (search for it on google) then when you found a certain car you could point it at the car all the way around the track. I believe there are premade ones you can buy from www.cantenna.com. These are used for 2.4GHz wireless networking but you should be able to use it for 2.4GHz wireless camera's also!

From my experience with mine, the range on 2g is pretty deaf. I've not hit a single wireless camera anywhere in my area....Of course I haven't tried that hard either.

As long as you have a clear LOS, I can't see a problem with marginally hitting an in car cam over the track.

But regardless, I bought it to listen to MilAir, track ELT's for CAP, and to have a TV if/ when a hurricane hits us.

Got lucky and got mine at a pawn shop for $250 :D
