• Effective immediately we will be deleting, without notice, any negative threads or posts that deal with the use of encryption and streaming of scanner audio.

We've noticed a huge increase in rants and negative posts that revolve around agencies going to encryption due to the broadcasting of scanner audio on the internet. It's now worn out and continues to be the same recycled rants. These rants hijack the threads and derail the conversation. They no longer have a place anywhere on this forum other than in the designated threads in the Rants forum in the Tavern.

If you violate these guidelines your post will be deleted without notice and an infraction will be issued. We are not against discussion of this issue. You just need to do it in the right place. For example:

I am wondering if there is a software program out there that I can use to control my Pro-97 scanner in real time. Control it from my computer to scan, change channels, and so forth.......

It doesn't allow real time control. The radio doesn't handle the data in that manner.

Several - the old, venerable BC895 and BC780 and the newer BC898t are only 3 examples. Trunking or not? Be more specific about your needs? Do you need digital (from the original question, I'd say not, but I could be wrong). Our Wiki has full information on these and much more 73s Mike

I do not need any kind of trunking, just basic scanning functions. The only other feature I really use is the CT decode so I can read the CTS tones.
