any such thing as a glass-mount mobile antenna with a wire?

I am finding lots of issues in mounting a mobile antenna on my 93 corvette convertible.

First, the car is fiberglass. So mag-mounts are out. PLus it has to look good.

So here is what I am looking for: Something I can stick onto the windshield and run the wire in through the engine compt and through the firewall.

I dont want the loss associated with a thru-the-glass style connector.

Ive already tried the am/fm antenna coupler and have decided i need more gain when on the road monitoring things in rural areas.

Does anyone know of a good all band stick on antenna, thats not thru-the-glass coupler?

the only way that i know is- the antenna on the outside and the coupler on the inside.
since you have no metal, i beleive this is the only other way to do this.

and i know the am/fm couplers are ok, but not the best.

anyone else?

While I'm not sure where or how you'd "hide" the cable from the antenna to the cowl (any respectable Corvette owner needs to be worried about "image" 8) ), I think you might be able to use this antenna.

The mini-magnetic base is only 1-1/8" diameter and the entire antenna weighs almost nothing. If you were to get a "remount kit" for an on-glass antenna, you could use the adhesive pad on this one to hold it to the window.

The mast is removable, and could probably even be slightly bent to accomodate the angle of the window.

For $17 shipped, it's worth a shot.

Of course, if you're timid about any of this, you can loan me the Corvette for, oh say, six months or so and I'll gladly hook you right up!

MarkEagleUSA: i've seen that work with good 3m tape you can actually get from your favorite home improvement store. another option is to make one with a piece of coax. put the correct end on it you need and strip the coating off of it for a couple of feet. lay it up on the dash board and hide the rest of the coax under your plastics. it would not be the best, but it'd be a hidden option you can try out.
