cmdrwill, did we talk about a repeater antenna already? If not PM me.

On the DVM topic, I like to have at least two (but I probably have a dozen) meters because its nice to keep a pristine high end unit for making precise measurements at home and a knock around unit for field work. Most hams don't get into very small current measurements like a few mA or less but its nice to have that in your best meter if you ever do need it.

You can buy great and fairly accurate DVMs that will measure DC current up to 20A and just about anything else you might need to do for $20 or less. If you drop it off a roof or accidentally burn it up trying to measure your car starter it won't break the bank. Just don't do that with a Fluke 8060A.

The Bird Model 43 Watt meter also reads standing birds on the antenna.............................

PRCGUY, I need your help, you do install repeater antennas? I will bring the B1rd.

How's that N1201SA been holding up for anyone? Still happy with it? Any shortcomings?

Here is a sight that I think you will find interesting. It is very informative and educational. He is probably not using over $75 worth of the equipment in all 4 videos combined and if he had a bit stronger noise source could drop at least 1 amplifier. If you are interested in a bird 43. I will be helping with the estate of a SK in the coming weeks. There is at least 1 bird 43 along with other equipment that you might be interested.

Had quite a few ham grade meters over the past 40 years and they all
"worked" well enough just didn't last under field conditions

Bird 43s take a beating and are plenty accurate for forward or reflected power measurements but the slugs have gotten too expensive

Finally bought a Coaxial Dynamics broadband meter and never looked back

25-1000mhz up to 500 watts and no slugs to buy

Best decision I ever made
