Hello everyone. I have an older Radio Shack Pro -2050 TrunkTracker that's been a great scanner, but recently my local law enforcement has switched to P-25 and when there's radio traffic all I get is static. Now if my scanner is still picking up their signal it seems there should be some kind of filter or add-in decoder chip or some way to get the traffic instead of static, I'm pretty good with electronics, but if there is something to update my scanner I'll also need a schematic for my scanner if anyone has one...Does anyone know of anything to update my scanner? I appreciate any help. Thank you.

bigjl71 - nope, pro 2020 only good for Conventional (Analog) Trunking , and VHF Air, VHF Marine.
besides most Police Radios are on UHF and they mostly use Digital Voice modes and Digital Trunking, they also could use 700 & 800 MHz conventional as well.
I would recommend keeping the Pro 2020 and use it for Emergencies, like Weather, AM-FM Broadcast Radio, VHF marine and VHF air , and Media Frequencies used by News Crews and News Helicopters.
then get a TRX-2 or a WS1098 both are desktop or mobile scanners, if you would like a Hand Held model Whistler also makes them too.

Whistler Scanner come with a USA and Canada database.
its however out of date when you buy it, so its best to connect it to a Windows computer , so that you have the latest information.
