• To anyone looking to acquire commercial radio programming software:

Please do not make requests for copies of radio programming software which is sold (or was sold) by the manufacturer for any monetary value. All requests will be deleted and a forum infraction issued. Making a request such as this is attempting to engage in software piracy and this forum cannot be involved or associated with this activity. The same goes for any private transaction via Private Message. Even if you attempt to engage in this activity in PM's we will still enforce the forum rules. Your PM's are not private and the administration has the right to read them if there's a hint to criminal activity.

If you are having trouble legally obtaining software please state so. We do not want any hurt feelings when your vague post is mistaken for a free request. It is YOUR responsibility to properly word your request.

To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

This is a large and very visible forum. We cannot jeopardize the ability to provide the RadioReference services by allowing this activity to occur. Please respect this.

Any X9000 users still out there?

AH!
I just re-read your post. You are looking at the checksum bytes.
Re-read the Info page of the .xlsx The PL data values are not stored in the mode bytesets. They begin 32 bytes (2 bytes per PL x 16 MPLs) above the offsets I posted above for a given codeplug size (2k or 8k)
They are indexed, (using the "modified view" format as reference) in the lower nibble of byte 07 of the mode's byteset.

I need to print out your file for easier reference but I can't get it to format correctly. The right side is always cut off.

Go to format on your Excel menu/ribbon and select unprotect sheet. That will let you adjust the row heights and column widths. I kept having to undo stuff I had already done so I made myself "unprotect" the sheet to make intentional edits.

Sorry for the delay. Work stuff interfering with my pursuit of happiness........... again.
Not only do they want me to show up, every day, and stay all day, they actually expect me to do something while I'm here. How unreasonable is that!

My monitor at home is a widescreen so I did the whole thing in widescreen mode. Plus anything under a 10pt font is laborious to read anymore. I never gave consideration to print format.
I guess you see the .pdf was formatted for landscape.

R6.xx SP is a good version. It will run with the nested command.com trick on a P4 box if you are patient.

I came across this post after viewing a You Tube video of someone who had added FPP control an X9000 Low Band.
I still have one of these units to monitor one of the last LE agencies in the country to use it exclusively- CHP. This unit far exceeds the performance of any other LB radio that came after it, and I've had a few.
The RSS being clunky at best (I was able to get a couple of the SP versions) I still make changes via a time machine, an old Compaq 286, although I'm experimenting with DosBox and a relatively fast Pentium.
In your "reverse engineering" of the software, are you looking to re-write the RSS into something that looks and feels like it's out of the 21st century? Are zones possible in this codeplug as they have been since the Spectra was introduced?
