Sounds like some radio updates going on tonight, I noticed dispatch consoles have changed radio ID's also a lot of "test...test...1234" going on on the channels. Also dispatchers having to switch to portables for updates to dispatch consoles and a lot of radio tweaking taking place. I wonder if it's just an update to the radio's or if something else is going on like a switch to provoice.

Wouldn't that ruin a few Christmas presents, I'm just glad I bought the 106 cuz I'm moving to Phoenix, although it would be a disappointment to see LPD/LSO go all provoice. I really don't think they would go all provoice, they have multiple ways of discretely calling units ie. MDT, and digital channels already in use.

Astrak, I hope your 106 will work here in Phoenix. Trust me, the Phoenix system can be a real pain
in the a55 to monitor. Almost everyone out here, as far as police, have gone digital. And, the Phoenix
system is huge, so be prepared to do a lot of programming.

You are going to love the weather out here. I moved from Norfolk to Phoenix to get away from that cold air and have never looked back.

Let us know when you get out here if you have questions about the Phoenix system. Lots of experienced people on the Arizona groups that will help you out.

Thanks Elephant, I lived in Marana(Tucson metro area) for the past 3 years, I came back to Lincoln to help out the surveyors here they were short staffed. That has passed and unfortunately I have been laid off so I'm going back to Arizona. I have the Phoenix system already programmed into a V folder and also on WIN500. I'm moving to Mesa and will live fairly close to the Simulcast C site(I think that's what it is). Hopefully I don't have any trouble's listening to the system. I appreciate any help though.

I don't know what was going on for sure, but I did catch that they were working from the backup communications center and did not return to the primary communications center until Wednesday morning.

Yesterday for some reason, dispatch was unable to monitor LFR fire Tac channels 3 - 8 and UNL Fire Tac. I don't know if this was a one time thing, or if that is normal when working from the backup center. It seems like whenever they use the backup center, for whatever reasons, they experience a great deal of problems as was shown yesterday. I wonder if the move was for drill purposes or for updates in the primary center.

An event like this, where they use the backup center only happens a few times a year that I have been able to notice, and there hadn't been any substantial changes previously. Everything seems to be working normally this morning since moving back to the primary center. Traffic sure sounded terrible yesterday though.

I kind of thought they were at one of the back-up centers. If anyone was listening when they went they have two types of evacuation to back up locations, one is a staged evac where half the dispatchers will leave to a back up and get everything up and running while the other half still mans the main dispatch until things are up and running then windstream will reroute everything to the back up location and the dispatchers still at the primary will leave. The other of course is an emergency evac where there will be no dispatchers and team captains will take over the role of dispatching units and taking calls for service, also hospitals and fire stations will be alerted for walk ins.
