I used to Dispatch for Paterson for a good 15 years. 100's are regular unit's. 800's are sort of street crimes unit's. Lat time I worked there were 2 11 hour shifts that were staggered by 5 starting times that were rotated by 4 tour's. We ahd on average anywhere between 15-28 unit's patrolling the city at a given time. Ok let me see if I can remember the codes here.

10-7-in service
10-8-out of service
10-9-repeat
10-10 location
10-15-lunch
10-16-mini break
10-17-gas/repair
10-21-reg lookup
10-24-parking violation
10-25-mva
10-26-hit and run
10-27-dui
10-28-ambulance request
10-29-tow truck request
10-35-minor complain
10-36-injured/sick
10-37-money escort
10-40-burg in prog/maj crime
10-41-b/e report
10-42-susp pers
10-43-fire
10-44-bomb scare
10-45-riot
10-46-alarm
10-47-suicide
10-48-property check.

Thats from what I can remember since the last time I worked there which was 2001.

Thanks a lot guys.

BTW, I noticed that Paterson officers just say "10-12" (assignment completed) at end of call and they never say what the outcome of the call was. I am used to Bergen county town pd's that the officer explains to dispatch what the outcome of call was. I was wondering why Paterson doesn't do this. Is it because to save air space due to the almost constant transmitions?
