Anyone Around The NEA Area Hear Craighead Co.

Does anyone around the Northeast arkansas/Craighead county area ever hear any of the county departments such as cash, egypt, bono, brookland, etc. fire dept's on scene radio traffic? I'm about 20 miles away and I never hear any of their on scene traffic nor do I hear when they talk to dispatch, I just hear the dispatcher and that's it.. Just wondering if anyone else heard them or knew of a better way to go about hearing them, they've called two of our county departments out to help with water support and I haven't a clue what's going on... I can't hear them, Just ours here, Just wondering if anyone had any ideas..

Brian, have you heard Leachville's radio/phone patch? It blows me out over here at Kennett. Aren't the systems you're talking about here digital?

Yes, I've heard it but it's not real clear, It would be with a directional antenna but yes I have heard it before, Several times...Also Jonesboro IS Digital but the County Fire Comms Are Not..

I hear Craighead County on their VHF channel. It's usually busy enough that I keep them locked out.

You're talking about the Sheriff's Dept. VHF, Yes, It's the talk around car to car repeater frequency now.. It used to be used for main comms and they switched over to AWIN so they use it for car car comms now but since it used to be the main comm channel it has a repeater on it..

Craighead County reception

The County Fire Departments use a simplex system for the west part of the county, and a repeater system for the east side. Some departments use a simplex fire ground on the scene. Other departments use the dispatch frequency, but do not have may portable radios. This makes radio usage limited. The county OEM director is placing a bid for a countywide voter radio system. This will allow for a portable to reach from one side of the county to the other side. I hope this explains the lack of frequency traffic.
