I got a Baofeng UV-B5 for father's day and I intend to use it as a police scanner. Using the CHIRP software, I was able to program Police/Fire/EMS for Walker and Whitefield Counties. However, I have not heard any traffic on the Lafayette police or Walker county sheriff frequencies. I used this website as a reference for frequencies. Does anyone know if the frequencies are valid? I can pick up Walker EMS/Fire and can even pick up Whitefield EMS and Dalton Police. However, no luck on Lafayette police or Walker county sheriff.

Thanks.

Walker County uses the Tennessee Advanced Communications Network (TACN).
It is a p-25 network that your radio can not decode.
The other freqs listed are no longer used.

Thanks for the reply. I guess this would require a scanner with digital trunking, which would be well beyond what would want to spend.

Fortunately, GA
It appears from the RR database, that Walker is still using Phase I TGID's. This can be determined whether there is a 'D' or a 'T' next to the TGID.
Tennessee Highway Patrol uses some Phase II TGID's. I didn't see any for GA.
HTH,
Larry
