I heard SEMA HazMat traffic from people who were in route to the fire last night while monitoring here in Tippecanoe county. Since I live on some of the highest ground for hundreds of square miles I was able to pick up SEMA traffic about the fire from multiple SAFE-T sites .

Originlly I was under the impression it was a gasoline fire from the SEMA traffic. They were talking about 300,000 pounds of gasoline. I later found out it was actually a magnesium fire.

AMACOR Fire in Anderson

That was a very busy night for the fire departments. Almost every fire department in Hamilton County sent equipment to the fire, mostly tankers plus the Noblesville and Carmel Hazmat units.

The fire agencies had trouble communicating with each other because Anderson is on a EF Johnson LTR system which is not compatible with anything else.

Why does Anderson use a EF Johnson LTR System that s not compatible with anything else?

Incompatible is the wrong word - they can easily patch an LTR into any other system / network out there...

Because they don't want the taxpayers listening to them while they work. The type of LTR system used by the City of Anderson is just about impossible to monitor with a scanner. The LTR system used by Madison County can be monitored.

I never did hear a successful patch being established with ISP (APCO-25 digital) nor with Hamilton Co. (EDACS) units.
