I recently got a Uniden scanner and this morning I downloaded Sentinal. The radio came with 3 counties pre programmed but there were some issues and to listen to what I want I decided I would have to create my own program.

I was able to successfully create 3 favorites lists but the way the lists are configured by county I am unable to find any of my State Trooper TG's or our statewide interop TG's.

Further, when I downloaded the lists to my scanner I realized that somehow it seems to be scanning sites that are not anywhere near where I am and I am not getting anything, I cannot figure out how to edit to try to change the sites and I do not see a way to manually enter the proper frequencies into the scanner for the sites for the county I live in. I have the lists in the scanner and it scans them but the sites are wrong and I can't find how to edit my lists.

I have a radio shack scanner that I have used win500 to program, used it many times, so I am not a technology idiot and I understand how trunking works, I get it all but I am having a issue using Sentinal for the first time. I have watched a few videos on youtube over and over but I am still not getting it. With Win500 you are able to go straight to your list and you can make manual changes to the CC's, TGID's and so on but this Sentinal seems more complicated than Win500.

Right click on your favorite list and choose "program favorite list". From there you can make your changes.

When you download anything from a trunked system, Sentinel automatically appends all sites within that system to your list. If you are not using location control, you will need to delete or avoid all the sites which are out of your receiving range. In most cases, the closest 2-5 sites are sufficient.

OK. thank you. That seems to have helped me remove all the unwanted sites from the list. Somehow I loaded every site in the system, there are a lot of them. I am still looking for the state stuff. I have my county in there but cannot find other things I want.

With win500 you are getting it off the RR database and it was easy to find everything, State Troopers, Interops... I suppose I can go in and manually enter the TG's, I know what they are.

An alternative to Sentinal is Proscan. You can download from the RR database with that software also and you get a 30 day free trial.

I have a SDS100, just got it. I have successfully entered my county in, as well as several other counties. I think I am going to be OK, maybe I can find a way to manually put in the State Troopers and interop TG's.

Thanks for the replies. I got it down now, got a bunch of programming done. It actually seems easier than the Win500 now that I know what I am doing.

See if the attached is helpful to you. You may have to remove some of the Departments that you are not interested in, or Avoid them or set up Department Quick Keys. The same would be true for Sites.

You'll have to unzip the folder then import the HPE file in Sentinel. You'll save some time by noting where on your computer the file is unzipped to.
