Trying to find anyone that scans often in Northwest Arkansas, mainly just trying to connect locally via email as general enthusiasts for local information, alerts, etc. Also bounce questions around regarding frequencies, TG's,....

Currently using the SDS100 and ProScan (at home.)

Thanks!

I'm listening mostly to Benton (AWIN). Did you happen to listen during the tornado?
I'd like to go back and listen to the archives, I think.. most of them were offline shortly after.
What scanner are you using?

I'm in NWA and able to scan State Police Troop L for our area. But I'd also like to scan Troop A covering central AR. When I scan for Troop A, I don't hear a thing. I must be missing something. I'm using a SDS100 and using Sentinel to program.

You won't hear Troop A on the Troop L towers unless a radio from Troop A is affiliated with one of your towers in NWA (unlikely since dragging talkgroups is frowned upon by the AWIN admin). That's the nature of a P25 trunking system.

You can monitor ASP Troop A on one of the scanner aps for your phone. Other than that you're pretty much out of luck listening up in the NW corner of the state.

I'm trying to find somebody that can scan and find out what Bentonville high School repeater and PL tone and frequencies are that way we can find out if it's correct on the website because it doesn't list the PL tone. Any help would be appreciative cuz I would love to listen but unfortunately I have no scanner only a two-way radio.

You do not need the PL to listen don't put a PL tone if it's an analog repeater which I'm assuming it is. Just put the frequency in and listen away.

I get that you don't have to put a PL tone but I'm trying to verify if it's correct and get the repeater frequency and PL tone. When I have PL tone and frequency and repeater frequency I get better range then listening to it then putting in the frequency for radio to radio.

Ok I guess I don't know what you're asking then. If you have the output of the repeater frequency that's what you need to monitor and I guarantee you won't receive 1 inch further having the PL tone. What are you actually needing to do here ? The ONLY reason you would need the PL tone is to activate the input into the repeater which isn't listening , it's transmitting. What 2 way radio do you have ?

I have a

Radioddity GD-AT10G but when I have the input and out I get feather range. Plus I don't know if the frequency on the website is correct. Plus I'm looking for Springdale high School radio frequency.

Typically recommended (at least preferred) to put the tone in on the scanner...eliminates catching stray noise, IDs, and sometimes digital noise if the repeater is ran in mixed mode. I never recommend to anyone to not program tone for these reasons. The only time I remove tone is if I'm searching for something or running 'discovery' to see if tone has changed or if digital mode is being used at all.

That's why I always like to use the PL tone because sometimes when I don't use the PL tone I get static or it don't come in clearly because it's picking up other things. That's why I'm trying to find somebody that can find the PL tone and make sure the frequency is correct on the website and provide the repeater because I have better luck that way. Just like one of my other jobs. I had it set to radio the radio and I couldn't pick up nothing from my house but as soon as I plugged in the repeater I got feather range and can hear what they're saying from my house. But I haven't found anybody that's willing to help me whatsoever to make sure the frequency is correct and the pl tone is correct. I have said a lot of times I cannot afford a scanner and not everybody is rich so my only way is with my analog radio / DMR to listen to a frequency if it's posted on the website and it's correct.

only if I have interference of some kind do I add the PL including my ham radios. Yea a mixed mode repeater is quite obviously one of those times. Also if doing cross band repeat and the received signal is run PL in COR so you don't transmit anything other than received audio. We've proven time and time again that some radios have problems decoding the actual PL when the received signal is perfectly readable on just "listening devices". My point however addressed he didn't need a PL to listen to a specific repeater which many think they do. I run into it daily. Also many ham repeaters don't even transmit a PL so, if you add one you'll hear nothing from it.

Here is what's listed on RR database for Bentonville HS. 451.8375 is the frequency if this is correct for the output of the repeater.

I know what is listed on the website but I'm not sure it is right because I did my best guess I'm guessing the frequency that I found off the FCC database so I'm not 100% sure if I have it right plus I know they use a PL tone but like I said previously I have no way of verifying if it is correct on the website because I have no scanner and I cannot afford one so I'm doing the best that I can so I'm asking for people's help to verify if it is correct and provide the PL tone but it seems like nobody wants to help me whatsoever. What is on the website I submitted at my best guess but I'm not for sure if the 100% correct like I said previously

Sorry I'm a long way from Bentonville or I'd see what I could do.
