I just got back in to scanning with a new Pro-95. I was looking through the RRdb for frequencies and found out the State Police in this area are now using a new 800MHz frequency due to their tower being damaged a while back.

I have these new frequencis programmed in but I don't hear too much traffic on them. I feel the traffic is too quiet which makes me believe either I'm missing some frequencies or I'm just too far from the tower. So I was posting here to see if anyone here is from this area that may share the same findings or know anything additional.

I'm also confused about the RRdb listing for the ISP in Vanderburgh County. The listing shows the ISP is a Motorola trunked system but the frequencies listed show they are in FM mode. I have never heard any trunking sounds on the frequencies so I assume it isn't Motorola trunked.

I thought maybe they may use cell phones, but I wouldn't think cell phones would work too well for most communications if all troopers need to hear something.

I do hear the occasional traffic stop and BOL, but I usually only hear dispatch. 50% of the time the trooper is static or not heard.

I found my old discone in the basement. I need to order some replacement elements for it to replace the broken ones. But once they come in I will mount it and see if I can hear more.

Thanks for the reply.

just now joined so just now saw. I get ISP car to car on interstate 64 on 42.42 and 42.26. I think 42.26 is the better of the two.

42.420 is the ISP Dispatch Freq. and 42.260 is the car to dispatch freq. These two frequencies work together to form a semi-duplex system. Evansville (District 35 ISP) does still use these low band frequencies in addition to the 868.8750 in the FM mode. They are not nearly as active as they used to be. The Safe-T System is not in use yet. You will also find the mobile repeater frequency of 155.445 active when an ISP mobile is within a couple miles or so of your location.
