Anyone know what frequency "00" is for the Rutherf

I am in Rutherford County all the time and on occasion I hear deputies asking to switch to "00". I seem not to be around any of them when they advise to switch to that frequency. I have checked the FCC database and really cannot identify any frequencies that have not already been identified. Does anyone know what frequency that this may be? I have scanned VHF and UHF, I think it just may be a "low power" UHF split that does not need to be licensed.

You may have already thought of this but most of the time a channel that they are asked to go to is just a car to car channel, have you tried the car to car channels

Could be 460.400 M/A using simplex on the output?

Nope, nope and nope. I know all those frequencies quite well. 460.250 is channel 3, 460.425 is channel 6, and 460.400 is channel 4. No one seems to know what I am talking about. You don't here them say to switch to "00" much, but it does come up. I am thinking that it is a low power simplex split that is not licensed.

I am in M'boro & monitor MPD & SO as much as possible.

I now have a new BC246T so could concevibly find it with some research in the CC mode?? Not sure...it would be hit or miss.

I live about 2 crow flyin' miles from the SO but the MPD is about 4 miles & weak compared to SO.

I blame everything bad RF on the dang new WGNS tower! :evil:

PS: I set MPD to NFM & now it is much louder, wish I had NFM on my other 3 scanners!

Heard them go 00 today on the way home but unable to catch anything on CC. :roll:

I heard 48 (I call him Barny Fife) call one of the Sarges to go double O the other night & the Sarge gruffly said "I'm to far away to talk 00".

I personally think 00 is a "secure" chanel.

I suspect they use it to say things like "We loaded the dope again, so now it's your time to bust it on I24 and get in the papers".

Nope, 462.000 is not "00". I still have yet to find it and know Rutherford County and law enforcement in Rutherford County real well. I thought maybe at one time that may have been code for go to the CB, however, I heard dispatch ask a lieutenant to goto "00" one day. The only thing I think it could be is one of those low power splits that do not need to be licesned for law enforcement to use. The 500 series units are the Drug Interdiction Units on 460.200.

I bet it is them transmitting either on the Repeater output frequency at low power or on the Repeater input frequency (465.XXX) with a different tone (so they won't hit the repeater).

I would try monitoring the repeater inputs for activity when they go to "00". You would also have to be in range of their mobiles to hear it.

Just my guess.

Range shouldn't limit a "secure" channel.

I'd say the only thing secure about it is it's range. If you aren't close enough... you won't hear it.

Ummmmm Any freq licensed to the county in the Public Safety Pool may be used by LEA's..... Look for any DPW, or other county freq that is used rarely..... Especially mobile only, or low power stuff..... Or any talkaround simplex usage of ANY freqs. :twisted:

The way I understand, '00' only has a range of about a mile. I programed a bunch of unknowns into a 2052 and was suprised to hear part of the conversation when they went to '00'. I just couldnt get to scanner in time to catch which freq.

I have friends that work for RCSO, therefore I ride quite a bit with them.
Double 0 or 00 is simply a car to car unsecured SIMPLEX frequency. It is in the UHF range and does not reach very far, most RCSO patrol cars are equiped with Maxon SM 4450 UHF radios. (not the best radios , personal opinion) Ill try to get you guys the 00 frequency and will post it as soon as i can. As CAPTLPO1 stated, the 500 series are the ICE units but also the detective units. Fyi, car 48 is one of my friend and he runs the K9 unit. Hope this helped u guys

Also remember that public safety agencies are allowed to use unlicensed low power frequencies as low as they do not cause a problem for anyone else. :idea:
