Does anyone know what scanner or scanner program this is?

Or better yet does anyone know if its even real?

Saw it in movie and it looks interesting but I've never been able to find it anywhere.

Where did you find it? Look in the help file and see if it gives you any information. Most programs will tell you where it came from, (like Motorola).

Looks like a computer based scanner app to me.

I have no idea.

I saw it in a movie and took screen caps from it to post. That is why I wondered if it is even real.

It was on a lap top screen mounted in the vehicle.

Whether its a computer scanner hooked to antennas, scanner program hooked to a scanner, SDR, or something else is up for grabs but are all ideas that I thought about but have no clue. I know it has selections for multiple antennas and seems to have features of HAM radio too like RTTY. I have no idea what such things as "Sync-L" and "Sync" something else are.

Searching for it on Google gets me nothing except "Scannermaster" which isn't it. LOL

It looks a bit too real to be a mere movie prop. I don't know what exactly it is, either, but there certainly is plenty of similar software out there if that's what you're getting at here.

What on Earth movie was it in?

Because of the similarity in name to Scanner Master, it's difficult to find any real hits on Google.

Those of you remembering "PC only" scanners, are you thinking of WinRadio? AFAIK it's still around - I see ads now and then.

If it's a prop, it's very realistically done - the frequencies are correct, the buttons and legends have relevance to what a real radio receiving application would use, and so on. A reverse GIS leads me to believe the movie in question is Nightcrawler, and it looks like there's a lot of computer/graphics-heavy props in there, so that could definitely be actually a mockup.

I remember many, many years ago there was a scanner that connected to a PC only. I don't recall the name and it wasn't around very long.
Uniden, AOR, and I think some other company made those. I don't know what the software for them was called.

You got it Jay.

The movie it is from is "Nightcrawler" It was the scene I believe when he got his new sports car all decked out with stuff. It was when they were at the gas station where he chewed his assistant out or just after. It was only up for a couple of seconds and those were the best shots I could come up with to screen cap.

Someone with better stuff might be able to do better but all I had was VLC off a 1080p dl copy of the movie.

It seems to have multiple functions and as you mention looks quite real vs made up. It would be interesting that such detail would be given for something only visible for mere seconds when other things were not even researched half way. That is why I thought it may well be real which as I said would be quite interesting. I want to buy it already. :)

Especially as it seems to have multi-antenna capability which might mean multi scanner as well.

Number of things in there some accurate some not so much but saw that and it really intrigued me.

Loved watching an episode of Arrow the other night where he was listening to a ham radio on 14mhz and copying the police dept along with hearing it on channel 11 of the CB underneath it. LOL

It is from Nightcrawler.

I wasn't getting at anything really. Just thought it looked really intriguing and if real might be quite interesting to get a hold of.

Just not sure what it is to get it. LOL
