Anyone Monitering the New Allegan EDACS Provoice system?? I am in the process of purchasing an EDACS/Provoice LPE-200 radio that has the Provoice option enabled....it will be able to moniter the new system. BUT...a big question I have for anyone monitering them now is...are they using any "Encryption"?? If they are running just straight Provoice I'll go ahead with the deal and buy the radio...but if they are "Encrypting" their transmissions then I'm not gonna waste my money on a useless radio....everyone knows we can't moniter encrypted signals.

CODE PLUG?!?!?

One more question...I just talked with the individual who is selling the radio and ALL the options (1 - 32) are Enabled....very cool. BUT he says I will need the "CODE PLUG" of my local agencies in order to be able to moniter them??? Anyone know what he is taking about?? Anyone reading this forum have the "Code Plug" for Allegan's system??

Not according to the guy selling the radio....the radio is programmed the same way a normal EDACS system is set up....Provoice it sounds like to me is just MA/COM's digital version of APCO 25 digital. Provoice IS scannable but only with an actual EDACS Provoice radio...which is a very expensive option but if your a hardcore scanning junky like myself you pay the price. I don't know if you can program the radio yourself or if it has to be done by a MA/COM tech. I definitely need more info before I fork out the big $$ for this radio

Just an update...after asking the guy some more questions this is what he told me. A code plug is a list of ID numbers and control channels used by the department....now can anyone answer me.....is that the info that is posted here already in the database?? And you can program the LPE-200 yourself but you need...programing cables for an lpe 200 and ericsson lpe programer version 10.

No, you have to get that from the agency responsible for the radios. And they don't give it out.
