well, I guess that anwsers most of our questions!!!!

I went to www.euroradiosales.com and checked it out. Even downloaded the programming software for it. BEWARE: IF YOU USE REPEATERS FOR ANY OF YOUR CHANNELS, THIS RADIO WILL NOT DO REPEATERS WELL. AND IF YOU HAVE DIGITAL TX/RX CTCSS/TONES, IT WON'T DO THOSE EITHER!!!!!!!!

The radios will do repeaters +/- 20mhz and the radios do support CTCSS/PL. The Linton 3260 will also do DPL(DSC) too.

It will do repeaters. I didn't say that they 100% would not. If you have split tones for you repeater system, say 118.8 encode and 131.8 decode, It won't do it. If you have a digital tone, say D131N or D004N, It won't do it!! If you don't believe me, you can go to the site, download the software yourself, and try it. But, you'll be sending me an apology later. Trust me, I worked with the software for an hour. It won't do split tones or digital tones.

You can set both the LT-2288 & LT-3288 send a tone on tx but not receive one. but as for split tone soory but the radios will not allow you to do this.

Thanks

Steve,
You may want to familiarize yourself with the regulations regarding the importation, sale, or offering for sale, of radio equipment in the United States.

Has anyone tried the programming software? I was just taking a look at it... I see there is a TX inhibit option, but I'm not sure if it's settable per channel or if it's a global option. Hopefully it's a per channel deal....

Hey guys very new here, i jsut got myself both of these radios that being the

TK-338 and the TK-228 from "KYD"

They do work nice and work with repeaters and such, there not approved for use in australia as there keypad programable, and you can talk on police channels in a matter seconds if you know the right codes. We use CTCSS tones and this unit took all of 2 mins to setup for our coms.

Quite a handy little unit, I know Motorola has a similar unit but i was under the impression they were both moddled after the KENWOOD but now i see a Linton, so who knows. They accept KENWOOD data cables and mic's eta..

Picked up a Kenwood compatible mic on e bay and works fine

So far i havent had the need to use any programing software as its all in the unit already. Thankgod cause i cant find any sofeware as such.

So far i have only had them for about 2 weeks, but as far as i can tell there holding up quite well, Im useing them on the job and have totally thrashed them rain, snow and mud and there still going strong. Which is great for the work i do as i didnt want to brake a $400 radio on the job. I got these from E-Bay for the grand total of $49.00 for the both. So theres no way i can complain. Maybe if you pay $300 then yeah it probally a heap of dog doo.

Batt lasts about 3 days on standby and easly runs all day with regular coms.

Um yeah the only bad thing i can say about this radio is the channel knob on top seems a little dodge but other then that not half bad at all. I really dont see why i would pay such a high price for another radio that i cant program in the field now i think about it. The manual that it comes with has some problems with translation and stuff like that and misses some aspects of the radios funtions, but if you have used a similar unit befor its all good. (not that i read the manual of course ;) thats for women...lol

Thinking that most radio shops would not like this radio because of the things it can do and theres no need for external software/datacables and things like that, not to mention it was cheap as.

Oh and befor i forget im in Australia so the prices may seem a bit off.
