Anyone recommend local Radio Shack?

I'm in Harrison Township and will be looking to purchase a Pro-96 soon. Can anyone recommend a Radio Shack in the area where the staff is knowledgable? I'd like to deal with people who know what they are talking about.

Radio Shack Knowledge of Pro 96

I thought the same of most of the employee's of Radio Shack when I purchased my Pro 96, but was thrilled to find the Northgate Mall store in Cincinnati that not only answered my questions, but completed programmed my radio with all of the frequencies here in Cincinnati. If you like, let me know and I can get their number for you. With their knowledge, i think they can not only answer your questions, but POSSIBLY load your radio with the frequencies you need.

I live in Harper Woods and when I bought my pro-96 I went to Southland Mall in Taylor to buy it. The manager of that store really knows what he is talking about. Very friendly and helpful in answering all of my questions. In fact I locked it up and could not figure out how to unlock it. Called him on the phone and he was able to talk me through it. He also recommened the Win96 software that I have now to program the radio. Hope this helps

Thanks for the tip. The employees at my local stores don't seem to know too much about scanners so maybe I'll take a trip out to Taylor when the time comes. Since you're fairly local to me, I'd be interested to hear how are you liking the radio too.

Well, it is one of the best investments I have ever made. Since alot of the cities around me here are know in the digital arena, the radio is making scanning fun again. Hey that price of 349 for the radio after Thanksgiving is a good price I would jump all over that.

I ordered one through the RS website this morning. Haven't received a confirmation email yet, though, but I'm assuming that is because no one is working today. At least, I hope that is the case and they are not trying to weasel out of that $150 rebate. I've got the "receipt" for my order printed up in case there is a problem. Looking forward to my unit's arrival!

I have had decent luck at the Clinton Twp store on Gratiot.

Now, you have to deal with the manager directly!! he is not as knowledgeable as US... but he is good for scanning issues. His co-workers should be avoided unless its simple, or you want a cell phone.
