Anyone running a feed successfully through FIOS that could help me out?

Years ago with Comcast I would stream on occasion. Ever since switching to FIOS (and a different router of course) and a few computer changes, I have been unable to establish a feed.

I had no issue properly configuring a Motorola SBG900 but doing what I figured to be the same with the FIOS router has not worked. This is the main issue- properly configuring the router.

I was also using a mishmash of programs and plug-ins for the feed back then. What's easiest free way to stream these days? It must be compatible with WinXP and ideally support alpha tags from a PSR-800.

Assuming you want to be able to directly access your PC from the Internet, as opposed to having your PC stream to a feed server and having listeners talk to the server, you need to make sure that your router has its port forwarding configured correctly and that VZ is not filtering the inbound connection on their border routers. If you are trying to run on port 80 they are likely blocking as most residential ISPs do not permit their customers to run web servers on their connections.

I'm using ProScan, which wouldn't help you much consisting your GRE scanner, but I'm serving up two web pages via ports 80 and 8080 for two instances of ProScan through a fios connection with no issue, in addition to remote over ip access. the actiontec routers that you "have to use" with fios are junk, but properly configured to pass tcp traffic on the ports you specify, it should work ok for you. also, if you are not already, take a look at a service like dyndns which fixes the issue of your router's dynamically assigned IP address.

sounds more like a software issue on your computer's end.

I've tried with ProScan and Scannercast but can't get the stream to go external. It works fine on my LAN.

Are you trying to stream to RR or setup a Web Server? I had absolutely no problems with my FIOS Actiontec M1424WR router.

[EDIT] For a web server to work, you need to setup the port forwarding.
Destination Ports 5000
TCP Any -> 5000

Change 5000 to the port that the web server will listen on.

I'm trying to setup a web server. Actually I'm not getting it to work on the LAN with ProScan. I've even tried with port 5700 that works for Scannercast.

Is this is correct way for forwarding port 5000?

If you're not able to successfully connect from another computer that's on the same side of the router, it could be a firewall on the computer that's blocking access.

If your using your IP to connect from inside your router theres a "loop back" problem (some routers dont handle it correctly). While at home connect with the 192.xxx.x.xx:xxxx, if your on a 3g or internet outside your home network you can use your IP. I had the same problem with my game server when I moved.

Do the following steps:
1. Disable any firewalls for testing. As rosecitytransit pointed out, a firewall can be part of the problem.
2. Click the "Get My IP" button in RadioFeed or ProScan.
3. Start the Web Server. Don't use port 80 at this point.
4. Put the IP address from step 2 in to the URL area of the Web Browser followed by a colon and port number. Example 192.168.1.4:5010 The computer with the Web Browser must be on the same network as the Web Server.

If you can not connect then something is wrong and you need to troubleshoot before continuing.

5. Check the router. See the picture. Click Add. No need to click the Advanced button.

6. Put the outside IP address in to the URL area of the Web Browser followed by a colon and port number. Example 71.165.76.211:5010
7. If it works then re-enable the firewall from step 1 and re-test.
8: If you are able to connect then try to use a no IP service in lieu of the dot-decimal notation.

I've tried all of this. With and without firewalls enabled, Scannercast is at least working on my LAN while RadioFeed is not.
