The FireFeeds.net feed went down a few months ago, so there'd likely be some benefits from anyone choosing to fill that slot!

I was the person streaming the Detroit FD audio on FireFeeds.com, but I had some reception problems, and I got those fixed, but now i am having some high speed internet problems, but I am hoping to get it back up and running soon.

I honestly didnt really listen to Detroit FD, but since I have so many extra radios, I decided to be nice and host the feed.
Do they simulcast the FD audio on 154.310 still? Are they switched over to Digital yet? I only have 1 digital scanner, that I take everywhere with me, so I cant dedicate it to an audio feed now. If there still using the 154.310 freq, I'll try to get it back up and runnning soon. I didnt realise that many people really listened to it. I might also be able to get some other area going also, like Macomb County also.

Det FD has switched over to the new digi simulcast system. To make matters worse, quite a few of us scanner users are having a problem decoding the signal. Its garbled, and sometimes non-existant. Not sure if its an issue with scanner firmware, but that may end up being the fix??

If A Directional 5-Elem Yagi Doesnt Work....I Would Guess That Would Be The Fix You Mentioned....However If Someone South Of 6-mile gets reception, then we're back to A- Square reguarding power output of the tower, ETC........BACK TO PULLING OUT MY HAIR.

Det FD has switched over to the new digi simulcast system. To make matters worse, quite a few of us scanner users are having a problem decoding the signal. Its garbled, and sometimes non-existant.

That s what I was thinking. I live in sterling Heights, (19Mile + Van Dyke) and I cant pick it up reliably, and I was even thinking about getting a yagi to point there, but I dont know how it will work out. I'm using a 6db verticle up 15' off the gound and have terrible reception most of the time.
If they were still on VHF, it would be no problem for me to host it, but until I can get a spare $500 digital scanner dropped into my lap, and they get thier tower issues solved, it looks like I wont be able to host it again. I might just end up hosting some other areas around here that are thill on conventional and put all my extra radios and computers back into service instead of colecting dust.

This is a list of fire department frequencys on the vhf radio.
It's not a scanner type radio and limited only to 20 memorys

I am not very good at selecting what others might want to hear and would welcome
any help or suggestions.

looks like a gud one. Got 112 michigan locations on the fcc data base for that frequency.

The antenna I'm using for the fire feed is an old Ringo Ranger 2 meter antenna at 60 feet feed.

The digital radio is a bc796d uniden to an 18 element beam at 35 feet using a preamp
and fed with hardline.

Thanks again because I didn't hook the stuff up to listen to it.
I just did it for the fun of doing it.

On the Detroit system. As I think most know it's a very complex pattern of very low transmitting antennas designed only to work in a specific area and the technicians did a great job getting it to do just that.

I have never been very good at explaining how to do stuff but I am working on writing a discription of my system on my home page but don't hold your breath waiting.

The 3 most important things about recieving radio signals are
1. antenna
2. antenna
3. antenna

True - but the question is, if you are getting it on your scanner just fine when nobody else is - what's the difference? Do you have a directional antenna pointed at one specific 701 tower?
