Have a situation at work where I may need something similar to this setup. I would rather use a magnet mount antenna upside down; however, I don't have anything to mount to except a large, frosted window. Since this would just be for tinkering use it's not super critical.

I was just curious if anyone has tried it? There's a Chinese-clone on Amazon by BingFu for $9 too.

You can buy this one or make your own. I am pretty certain "Mr. Federal", Chris Parris, uses one of these in his scanning post arsenal for finding federal frequencies. Reportedly, this works fairly well inside a dwelling or vehicle.

I have heard nothing but positive comments about this antenna from several sources. I made one similar to this design and it worked well in the Houston Metroplex.

I have a question since I heard someone talking about using an inverted scanner antenna. Why would anyone invert a magnetic antenna?

Do you happen to subscribe to Spectrum, the online radio magazine?

The aforementioned federal scanning expert (IMHO) frequently displays his monitoring arsenal. If you send me a PM here with your email address, I would be happy to send you the articles in question.
