Interesting looking product, i assume it uses an inline voltage regulator to knock the 9v down to 4.8v?

With some large capacity NiMH 9v batteries i'm sure it would last longer than the 4-6 hours they state.

The best NiMH 9V batteries I've ever seen top out around 400mAh, and those were $25 each. Most of the off-the-shelf brands that you can get for $5-10 each are only around 175-250 mAh.

That would probably suck in a scanner.
