Anyone with the X-Sweeper?

I thought about something like this, but never took the plunge for the obvious reason (cost):

Does anyone own this baby or know of someone that has? If not, how about the older version:

I have a frequency counter, but that is only good if you are close to the radio you want to find the frequency of and that is providing that that can happen in the first place!

I have an Xplorer and really like it. You do have to be carefull with vehicle adapter and not go over 12vdc, 9vdc is safer! It sits on my desk most of the time and reaction tunes either an optocom or my BC245 with the scanner-masters adapter. I get anything analog in the area ie, highway patrol, construction, hams, businesses, aircraft flying over, medical helos, and of course the local fire dept. I thought about the Xsweeper but I decided the Xplorer would better suit my needs for the time being. I think that the >$1500 would be better applied towards a handheld spectrum analyzer which will do worlds beyond what the Xsweeper does. Rhodes and Schwartz makes some nice handhelds but they are up there in price... Someday

Something to keep in mind is that these are NearField receivers meaning you need to be "Near" the action. I have found that if you want a particular freq you can use a Yagi antenna with a short cable and just point it at your target and viola (usually) when your target keys-up you should get a lock.

Holy cow, that thing looks awesome! Too bad no digital detection though - for $1500 I think it should.

Looks like a Digital Scout.

Why not just wait and get the BC246T? No digital, but give Uniden a little time and I'm sure a digital model will show up. That gives you the (analog) trunked scanner, frequency counter, and CTCSS/CDCSS decoder in one.

That SC-1 is not a whole much more than a frequency counter.
Where is the outlet for that imported line?
BTW, Optoelectronics is made in Florida!

If I understand this correctly it goes beyond just a counter not just for the audio monitoring but it's ability to lock on to a signal across a wider spectrum and the analyzer function.

distributor for the SC-1 is WiMo. I do not know of an importer.
