If you are having trouble legally obtaining software please state so. We do not want any hurt feelings when your vague post is mistaken for a free request. It is YOUR responsibility to properly word your request.

To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

Anytone Anytone 878UVII - only hearing parts of conversation on DMR

Local org uses DMR for communications, set as a group call, everyone using the same talk group, slot, and color code across multiple radios with individual device IDs. I have my scanner (Uniden SDS100) working to receive without issues. However on the Anytone Radio, I'm getting weird results. Voice traffic comes in, and I can hear it all as long as there is a gap in the conversation. If there is immediate key up on a reply from someone however, the radio shows the device ID changes and looks like it's receiving signal, but I hear no voice traffic.

Anyone have this happen or recommend specific CPS settings of why this might be happening? I'm using the Anytone only to receive this channel, will not be TX.

CPS has the DMR mode on the channel set to Simplex. Options have Group Call hold time to 1s. Does it need to be in repeater mode if they are using a repeater?

Try turning on Promiscuous mode ? In the manual I think they call it "Digi Monitor" Select both TS 1 & TS 2. This way you should hear anything on your talk group or frequency. When it's on there should be a red speaker icon on the top of the display.

Actually found the issue and it was completely unrelated.

There's some sort of glitch possibly in this firmware 3.03. Had monitor mode on and TS 2, along with all other options I could find on searches to allow for proper monitoring of RX. Nothing would get it working. Instead, I found a random video talking about repeater TX frequency had to be different from RX to stop the issue. Set that in the CPS, no change. Then I realized the video did it on the handheld instead of via the CPS. That worked! Tried to recreate in the CPS setting the TX to a different one than the RX frequency and the same problem happened again. It HAD to be set on the radio itself and then all traffic came in as normal.

No idea what would cause that or why setting in CPS did anything different than on the panel itself, but it worked if anyone happens to find this with the same issue!

Anyone know of a place to submit bug reports for AnyTone?

You could try submitting Anytone bugs to Bridge com but I'm not sure how receptive they'd be .

There is a hotel that I visit sometimes that has DMR. they are on tier 3.so even when I have promiscuous mode on it still only hears some of the conversation. This could be why your scanner hears all of it and the anytone 878 only hears parts. It will only do tier one and tier two

Could be possible but I think it's the glitch. Works every time as expected if I set the offset manually on the radio instead of on the CPS.

I've noticed this issue on my AnyTone 878UVII+ (firmware 3.0.3) monitoring a commercial DMR system with Digi Mon / Promiscuous mode on - It will decode the start of the transmission fine but anything else during the conversation is mostly missed, but shows as receiving and lists the ID, TG, etc of the user talking at that time. It also gets stuck on the data burst the system sends out. I'm assuming it's a CAP+ or similar type system, or one that AnyTone seems to struggle with. I'm new to DMR so maybe I've missed something in the 3.0.3 CPS.

RX and TX are set different FYI and once done via CPS I changed the TX via the handheld.

My Baofeng DR-1801 (with the basic CPS/firmware) picks up all the transmissions fine as well as my Baofeng DM-1701 (running GD77), and they don't get stuck on the data bursts, in fact the DR-1801 doesn't even show as receiving the data burst :)

Interesting that you're seeing the same behavior but the method to fix it doesn't seem to work on yours. How far away from RX did you set the TX? I've noticed if I set the TX to the same as the RX, it still fails. Had to be I believe 5mhz away +/- for it to pick up again fully.

I do now have TX at just under 5MHz gap as I finally set the TX to be correct for that service I was listening to, mainly as nothing seemed to be working correctly, plus I had it in my head that perhaps everything has to be correct RX and TX to receive for this radio system. I did have the TX at 446.00625 which is well above the RX being around 165MHz - Don't want to give away the exact frequency for fear of ruining the hobby ;)

I do have TX disabled, however, as I only listen. I've also disabled DataACK, maybe that needs to be on? No setting that I can see for that in the DR-1801 and DM-1701.
