The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

Quick update................

Microphones were not ready for a weekend shipment. Anytone says shipment will be Tuesday or Wednesday. I'll email again when I hear any news.

Regards,
Ed[/FONT]
Question ... Why would they tell you that they have 100 pieces READY to ship, but WITHOUT microphones?? Sorry, but I smell 100 peices of Sh** in the water to be shipped, or maybe not. I'm glad I have no cash at stake in this game! 73, n9zas

Some indeed have $ invested in this radio. So I try to keep everyone who are or may be interested in the loop here. So don't shoot the messenger:D.
Now it has been close to a 2 year delay from its supposedly schedule release back in 2014, one has to use caution and as always "Buyer Beware".

Why would they tell you that they have 100 pieces READY to ship, but WITHOUT microphones??

It is perhaps a delay or stalling tactic? IMHO It's an Asian Co (Chinese) perhaps in a rudimentary way they are trying to "save face" Or something is getting lost in the translation??? I certainly don't know the real reason.
On a personal note, I have worked with and spoken with Ed G on other radios I have ordered and as stated before he and his company have excellent customer service.

We are Just going to have to see what actually transpires over the next few days and weeks on this. Since you
"have no cash at stake in this game!" No worries then on you part! Right? 73's

Any Tone Tri Band Mobile - They be coming now!

View online version
August 9, 2016 (10pm)

It's only taken a year and nine months, but the RADIOS HAVE SHIPPED!!!

Sometimes it only takes three days for a shipment from China to arrive. It is Wednesday morning in China and they have probably just now issued the pick-up notice. So depending on customs and other factors I do not expect them to arrive here before Monday or Tuesday of next week.

When I begin shipping, you will receive an email via Stamps.com with a tracking number. It will probably take me a couple days to get them all shipped.

A few orders were entered with payment to be made by money order. Those people will receive an email with payment instructions. These will probably go out Thursday or Friday.

Regards,
Ed

Another Update from Ed-Next Week!

8/11/16
9pm

It is now official, that the radios have shipped. They were picked up Tuesday by FedEx. Barring no problems, the projected delivery date is Monday by 4:30 PM. I'll start my shipping Tuesday.

The programming software for the radio is also available for download. The URL is:
http://wouxun.us/Software/AnyTone-Software/Tri-Band_Mobile_Setup.zip

One of the first radios shipped will go to RT Systems Software, so you can look for the tri-band
mobile to be added to their lineup soon.

I have a new Tri-Band Base Antenna available. This item is not on my web site yet, but I will get it
added this weekend. You will find it on the Antennas page of my web site, right next to
the Tri-Band Mobile Antenna. Antennas

Regards,
Ed

As of today 8-18-16 Ed of Wouxan.US has shipped out the first batch of about 100 radios.
I am pretty sure that many of this forum thread readers are in that group of customers who have been waiting to get this tri-bander.

As those of you receive and begin to use this and put it through its paces, please post your findings and experiences in this group. So we can get back to the topic on hand.

Thanks and good luck to all who ordered[emoji844]
I am also one of those people waiting for this radio!

AnyTone Tri-Band AT-5888UV III

8/18/2016

New Tri-Band Anytone arrived today. I downloaded the software and already had the programming cable from an earlier purchase. All three bands on the left side of the rig 2 meter, 220 MHz & 440 MHz with 144 & 440 on the right side (display).
All seems to be working very straight forward and did not have to read too much to get the feel and get it working. Only mobile TRI-BANDER that actually has 25 watts output on 220 MHz. 2 meters has 50 watts out and 440 is around 40. Four range steps- 5 for low and on up for wattage output settings.

Software works - follow the instructions - it does work. (using Win-10)
Be sure the COM port is correct - I did not have to change or move or modify anything. Came up COM5.
Does not "copy" and "paste" as well as some of the RT System software as I used in the past, but it is a free download and saves you from a lot of button pushing.

LOTS of stuff in the MENU - lots of options and selections. Dial color adjustments are WILD. All kinds of variations of Red - Blue - Green and setting in between!
2 speakers - Main band and sub-band. Removable head is a plus for mounting into today's autos.

AUTO Repeater "offset" works good for 2 meter and UHF..... for 220 I had to list the RX and TX freqs separately.

Not too happy with the microphone connector that comes out the side of the head. I can see having problems "down the road" on a cold morning trying to get some stretch on a stiff mic cord and put a lot of stress on the connection.

Question for any of the others out there that have one of the NEW rigs. What is the USB plug used for that is on the left side of the display????? I did not see anything mentioned about the USB in the manual.
Could be for factory "FLASH" update? Not going to plug anything into it until I learn more about it.
WE HAMS do NOT always READ all the instructions right away! ( Also a "guy thing" like directions and the old road maps.)

SO far SO Good! Not going into a lot of detail and not actually doing a review. I waited almost 2 years for this radio hoping it will replace some of the Kenwood Tri-Band that are now long outdated and repair parts are hard to find. (sales for new Kenwood TM-742 ended around 1995).

KA3CNT,

Good report so far, still waiting for mine. How does the cross band repeater function work with this unit?
Also per Ed G., RT Systems will be getting one of these first run Tri Band radios. Expect a RT version of the programming software in a few weeks or so.

Thanks for your 1st report, good luck!

Well I got mine yesterday, I got mix feeling. First I want to say I got good reports on the transmission and I got good receive.
220 with 25 watts is good I hit my friend repeater that is 51 miles from me but transmitting and receiving is rough.

My problem started today, in the SET menu I lost 56 through 67!
I try factory reset that didn't restore nothing.
On the left side I put all VHF and all UHF on the right side, on the right side UHF the first frequency I put in I assigned it to Channel 1, we'll that over wrote channel 1 on the left VHF.
I'm not sure how to program memory bank, i program one frequency for A bank got that, then another frequency I tried to assign it A bank too, it won't work, I thought each bank has 10 slots?
Or I'm not understanding the Chinese English manual!

I checked out the cross band repeat function. Went to function #44 and put 145.00 on the left side and 445.00 on the right side. X-RPT shows - then you hit the band select knob and XSTART comes up on the display. It did come up and RPT indicator and works like a charm!

At this time - first try - I could not put 220 or 440 on the left - only 2 meters. 440 freq on the right. I think this is a result of the function #44 menu choice. You have a lot of editing choices with the Hyper1 & Hyper2 CH EDIT menus. You can select VFO band edge and VFO left and right Freq limits both TX and RX. There is a "learning curve" to another programming method.

You can also select the internal speaker or a speaker that is inside the microphone.

As with any new radio or first run / release of a particular unit. Users may indeed find issues and have difficulty.

With any "new" toy, we're all anxious and at times rush to get the unit ON AIR!

Make sure you read the instructions carefully a few times especially if the English is a poor translation of the Chinese. More reasons not to rush the issue.

Take a look at the instructions of this radio's dual band version. May give you some pointers in the right direction.

Again take your time.

Finally, if there is a bug in the firmware and / or programing software and are stuck.

Please contact Ed G at Wouxan.us for customer support.

Keep those reports coming in on this unit.

Thanks[emoji844]

"Dennis101 said "My problem started today, in the SET menu I lost 56 through 67!"

If you go to menu #57 for BALK which is OFF - Turn it ON
When it is ON - you will THEN SEE (#58 BLK A ) #59 #60 etc...

I think that the factory reset did just that - it reset #57 to the default of OFF and then #58 to #67 are not displayed as an option until #57 is turned on.

There's only one main bank of frequencies. Separate yours by band in groups (1-99 = 2m, 100-199=1.25cm, 200-299=70cm etc.). You can assign certain channels to certain banks but there's only one master list of frequencies/channels.

Really weird problem when I tried to program mine today for the first tiem. It wouldn't let me put in any out-of-band receive-only stuff. I think I figured it out but I don't know HOW I fixed it.

Does the software copy and paste at all? If so, How? I haven't figured it out.

No not yet, its a pain with manual input of data.
Hopefully they will come out with an update soon, However, RT systems may have the software out in a few weeks? See my 8:54 AM post from yesterday.

HI Ron,
What I was trying to do is to assign frequencies to Bank A
So I went into SET to menu 56 it was gone, this was before I try factory reset.
What works for now is to unplug the power for about 5 min. Then it come back, but for the life of me I have no idea why it disappears.
So today I order a program cable from ED hopefully I can work around this bug.

Bob,
If I understand you correctly, example A band will be for 2m only B Band 220 and C band for 440?
If so I guess I was doing it wrong?
I was trying to put 2m and 220 together on A band and 440 on B band.
